Spaghetti

Spaghetti is a long, thin and cylindrical pasta. It is a staple food of traditional italian cuisine. Spaghetti is, like other pasta, made of milled wheat and water. Spaghetti is typically made from durum wheat, but may be made with other types of flour.

Spaghetti can be made using no more than a rolling pin and a knife. A home pasta machine simplifies the rolling, making the cuts more uniform. Fresh spaghetti woould be cooked within hours of being made. Comercial 'fresh' spaghetti are far from fresh.

FUN FACT: In Italy, spaghetti is often served with tomato sauce, which may contain various herbs. Various grated hard cheeses such as Parmesan, Grana Padano and Pecorino Romano are often sprinkled on top.
